Our Restart Plan

Current Reality

We are facing a number of challenges to ensure the safe return  of our students and staff to in-person learning this year.

  • Ever-changing guidance

  • Student and community needs

  • Staffing challenges

  • Facility evaluation

We have decided to begin our school year in a fully remote learning environment with one constant goal in mind: the safe return of all students to in-person learning as soon as possible.

Current Reality Logistics

  • All students will attend remotely to start the year.

  • Students will participate in learning activities from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM daily.

  • Remote learning will begin on September 3rd and 4th. (These days will end at 1:00 to allow for staff training.)

 Our Plan
RESTART IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION

A four-phase process to restart in-person instruction for those students who have elected to return to the classroom

 Phase 1 | Current Baseline

1.

Students and staff  will work remotely as appropriate based upon roles and specific needs.

Virtual learning will take place from 9:00 to 2:30 daily.

2.

Limited access will be given to the building while we verify that all ventilation systems are operating optimally and within their specific design parameters.

(Substantial completion date September 11, 2020)

3.

We will continue refining and finalizing instructional plans for all students.

(Substantial completion date September 11, 2020)

Phase 2 (A) | SPECIAL CLASS PROGRAMS

  • Special Class Programs will operate from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM on M,T, Th, F. Wednesday will be fully remote for all students to allow for cleaning. (Building entry will begin at 8:00 AM to allow for screening protocols.)

  • Students attending special class programs will work in small groups with a special education teacher. This in-person instruction will also include related services on a phased in schedule.

  • This will include all students enrolled in special class programs and resource rooms.

 Phase 2 (B) | Remote Learning Centers

Remote Learning Centers will be a safe, supervised environment within the school buildings where students will be able to access the remote learning experiences offered by their assigned teacher.

  1. Remote Learning Centers will operate from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM daily. (Building entry will begin at 8:00 AM daily to allow for screening protocols.)

  2. Remote Learning Centers will be provided at no cost to parents.

  3. The Remote Learning Centers will have a limited capacity for those students who need a safe, supervised place to access their remote learning activities. (We ask those parents who are able to accommodate their children at home to do so as we build capacity in our school for more students.)

  4. We will continue to coordinate efforts with YMCA Camp Bernie and will provide transportation to and from the school.

  5. The Remote Learning Centers will not provide direct instruction; however, there will be staff present for general supervision who will be able to answer some questions.
