Cooking Class

Instructor: Jessica Hull

Learn how to follow a recipe, measure, plan for a meal and work as co-chefs in a kitchen. During the three days of cooking class the children will pick a theme to explore and pick what to make as a group. Then on day two we will examine some different recipes for what we picked and make our own. We will take bits and pieces from the ones we like and put them together to make our own version of the dish we decided to make. We will record it in our own recipe book. On the last day we will cook and enjoy!

“Find It” Bottle Craft

Instructor: Leslie Sauerborn

Using a plastic bottle, rice and an assortment of small objects we will be creating a “find it” bottle. Once completed, the concept is to rotate the bottle to find each of the objects hidden within the rice inside. Later at home, the bottle can be used to challenge each other to find specific items within a period of time, find items in a specific sequence or find items identified by description instead of name. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag of their own small objects to add to their bottles to personalize their assortment. These objects should be able to fit through the neck of a standard 16 ounce water bottle.
